The Nokia 5.3 The perfect Budget Phone

The Nokia 5.3, lots of good things about this phone 📱.

I like the design n the colour choices except for the charcoal one I just don't feel it, maybe for some of you. You may confuse it with 7.2 but just look a little closer and you will spot the difference, the camera setup at the back is unique with the tear drop notch at the front.

Been using one with 6gb RAM and 64gb storage combined with Snapdragon 665 which I must say is a huge improvement and surprise coming from HMD Global home of Nokia Phones. I say this because the CPU is a bit higher than that of the 7.2 which I thought was a very superior device.

Anyway using the 5.3 for a couple of Months now as my daily phone n one thing is definitely more impressive the battery life. Almost giving me 2 days of battery with moderate usage and one day with plenty of  battery remaining on intensive usage I believe it's also something to do with the lower screen resolution of 720 by 1600, which you don't easily notice for an average user until you want to watch that YouTube video in 1080 or 4k and realize the option is not available, but it's okay for daily usage and brightness is good outside but could be better.

In terms of performance the one I have is just smooth, despite a little freezing here and there when currying out heavy tasks which I believe are beyond what the phone was meant to handle such as intense gaming on high graphics settings. Let's be honest though this is not a gaming phone, for a mid- budget phone it does exceptionally well multitasking is incredible, opening apps, browsing and Social media perusal is always a pleasure. For someone on a budget and looking for a secure, clean android phone with constant updates, above average performance and beautiful build quality I definitely suggest this phone.

I already mentioned the screen resolution which may not be for everyone but I think it's still way above average. So let's talk about the cameras for the photo enthusiast and selfie. The main camera a 13 MP f/1.8 and it's a wide angle shooter, coupled with a 5MP, 13mm ultra wide, 2MP macro lens and 2MP depth sensor with the 8 MP f/2.0(wide) selfie camera.  The 13 MP doesn't disappoint, day light shots are great  both in HDR and without it though it struggles a bit in low light conditions n combined with the ultra wide 5MP scenery photos for your vacation spot are going to be on point. The 2 MP macro and depth cameras are really just for moderate usage not professional the images captured are good but some improvement is definitely required, though I rarely used them. The front/selfie camera does surprisingly well when it comes to those selfies with friends and subject separation or bokeh effect.

Video recording is done by the main back camera supporting up to 4k@30fps and 1080P@30fps the front camera supports only 1080P@30fps though no optical image stabilization for both lenses here. For the videos I must say it's a matter of good lighting and  perspective, you see Nokia phones, well the ones I have used so far ranging from the 7 plus to the 4.2 show you exactly what they expect your eyes to see the images are true to life with no alteration so this might not be very interesting for some people but for me I found them to be just ok.

Conclusion-: for a budget phone the Nokia 5.3 has a lot of good things that are positive about it including the pure Android experience and updates, battery life and performance to a point, the cameras are also ok for the price though some improvements are definitely needed especially in the macro lens and the depth sensor. For somebody on a budget this is definitely a phone to recommend it will do you good in terms of your daily life usage and a bit of gaming here and there, the one with the 6 GB RAM is definitely a win over.
